Murphy, 27, says she agreed to pose for Maxim on the condition the magazine send 40,000 copies with a special message from her to the U.S. troops stationed in Iraq. The star of such films as Clueless, Girl, Interrupted, 8 Mile and Robert Rodriguez's Sin City has a cousin serving in the Marines.

THE SUN: Are you comfortable with your body or do you feel just a little exploited with some of the costumes you've worn in your films?

MURPHY: I'm proud to be a woman and femininity is an important part of my greatest strengths and assets. It would be foolish to conceal my femininity on the pretense of some false modesty."
